Brescia has been a Unesco World Heritage site since 2011. Classified as one of the best-loved smaller cities of art in a recent study by the Italian Tourism Ministry, Brescia is an elegant and welcoming city with a historical centre that contains some important artistic treasures: the Castle that dominates the city from atop Cidneo hill, the Capitolium, the Santa Giulia museum complex, Piazza Loggia, and the many churches are just some of the places you mustn’t miss when you visit the town. One annual opportunity to travel to Brescia is the Mille Miglia vintage car race, which is held each year in May and ends in the city center after passing through Rome.
